Weekend.

Probably most of you have heard about the festivities in our country last Tuesday. We have a new King and Queen. The abdication of Queen Beatrix was at 10 in the morning and the inauguration of King Willem Alexander was at 2 in the afternoon. We saw it all on TV .

Let me show you some pictures I took while watching TV.

A small impression of a beautiful day.

narigheid. Een ongelooflijke
mensenmassa die vol van vreugde
op het plein aanwezig waren.
Hartverwarmend allemaal en menig
traantje is gevallen.

Wij hebben ook alles op de
TV gevolgd, en de tijd ertussen
zijn we de Sneek ingegaan,
erg druk en veel gezelligheid.
Lekker iets gebruikt op een zonnig
terras en zo rond twee uur weer
achter de buis.
Een dag om nooit te vergeten.

Veel liefs,
Josephine

Beautiful photos Riet. We saw some short clips on the news here. Our province has a lot of Dutch living here since World War 2 and they gathered together for a celebration and watched the proceedings on TV. I think it's wonderful the Queen felt she could 'retire' and allow her son the privilege of being king.

Loved those photos inside the cathedral especially. Wonderful architecture.

Liefs Riet.

Oh, thank you for sharing these photos! We didn't get to see it over here. I've always thought Queen Beatrix is such a lovely, gentile woman. It looks like her son and his family will represent The Netherlands very well. I've never seen Dam Square that full - wow!! Congratulations to the new monarchs and to everyone in your beautiful country. You know how much I love it there!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Robin

yes we were saw some of it on our television too - a great spectacle.
Very gracious of Queen Beatrix to abdicate in favour of her son Willem - I hope he will make a good King of the house of Orange.

We saw it on TV here as well, Riet. What a beautiful day it must have been. Here in Canada we feel a special connection with the now- Princess Beatrix who spent some of her childhood in Ottawa. What a beautiful royal family you have in the Netherlands.

Hi Riet! Ik zie dat wij hetzelfde onderwerp hebben! Logisch toch !

I think it's wonderful of your Queen (now Princess) to do that. Seems like a fairy tale to us over here, where every little girl wants to be a princess. Your Royal Family is certainly good looking enough to qualify for any such story.
